Wine from Nebraska? Yes!! In the early 1900's there were over 5,000 acres of grapes under cultivation. Prohibition, drought and late freezes took their toll on the grape industry. Currently there are 25 wineries and well over 400 acres of grapes.
The varieties of grapes used in Nebraska Wine are not the same as you will find on the west coast or overseas. Special plants have been grown that will withstand Nebraska's heat, cold, and our prairie winds. Some of them are: Edelweiss, DeChaunac, Seyal, LaCrosse and St. Croix with more being developed.
Many of the wineries are new and are still developing the volume necessary to be able to distribute to places other than their own tasting rooms.
At From Nebraska Gift Shop we offer many of the wines from Nebraska wineries, which we are currently able to ship within Nebraska, as well as to Minnesota and Florida. You can also stop in for tastings at a Nebraska wine bar built from an authentic grain bin or visit us for 2nd Saturday Sippings, the second Saturday of every month, where you can meet the representative from our local featured Nebraska winery.
Browse our gift shop online or in person for other gifts from Nebraska, such as Husker and Nebraska apparel, souvenirs, kids clothing, toys and books, stuffed animals, gourmet food and gift baskets, locally made chocolate, items for the office, local books and art.
